A short little word with such a huge impact.
We’re all very used to the word no. If you have kids you say it many times each day, and if you have toddlers you probably hear it many many times a day. And no always means one thing: BIG FAT NEGATIVE.
No can do.
No is bad….right?
We’ve written out our goals, made our plans and yet, month after month, there’s sticky goals that don’t move on that mirror. The most common excuse for many of these failed attempts is usually…
“I just didn’t have time. I was too busy!”
How does that happen? How does our day, week, month get so filled up with other stuff that we wind up not having time to do something that we most want or need to do?
It’s because we’ve failed to use that one little tiny word: No. You see every time we say yes to something, we are saying no to something else. There’s no way around it.
We get 86,400 seconds every day.
That’s it. And every day, without fail, we use up all 86,400 seconds.
The key to living a BIG LIFE is making the most out of each and every one of those seconds.
Too many times we try to squeeze this new BIG LIFE into the left over seconds we can scrape together from our little life. Saying yes to people can sure make you feel good for a moment. But eventually those yeses add up and before you know it you’re living everyday digging yourself out of all these things you’ve said yes to.
And you’re no longer feeling good.
You’re feeling overwhelmed, ineffective, tired and unfulfilled.
BIG LIFE requires you to say NO – it is a gift you give yourself.
No is protecting your priorities and goals.
Living a BIG LIFE requires time and energy.
Every great goal you’ve set for yourself is going to need you to devote some time to making it happen. It’s going to require some work, some elbow grease, some sweat. If you want it…REALLY want it…you’re going to have to say no to some things so you can say YES to the BIG LIFE you were made for.
Every minute you spend playing online, pinning, liking, and posting, is a minute you could use working toward your goal. Ouch. I gotcha didn’t I?
Say no more so you can give a hearty, big ol’ YES to the truly important things.
