Tonight is our annual BIG Life Goal Setting Broadcast. You have the potential of writing goals that will radically change your life, and I will be your guide. I will show you in very practical steps how to dream, how to plan, and how to take action without being overwhelmed. This could be a moment in your life that changes your trajectory. It could be the moment you take the first step towards your truest potential and the life you most desire.

I began writing goals 10 years ago. I vividly remember sitting in a park in El Paso, TX wearing a green hoodie and putting wishes in writing, then forming a plan of action to make those wishes goals I would actually achieve. I stepped into the current decade we’re now ending with a written outline of the life I truly wanted … and it worked. 10 years later I now fully live that life. Goals work. I speak from the perspective of a life that has been radically changed in every way by written goals.

But, even more than a goal weight, financial success, a happy marriage or a passionate career, I stepped into something truly life altering. In the process of writing goals and working to achieve them, I became more like the woman I was created to be.

This is why I’m so passionate about helping people write goals. I know their true power. I know this process can help you not only live the life you truly want, it will guide you in becoming the person you were created to be. And that my friends is SUCCESS.

I’m not just talking about your degree or your career, I’m talking about who you were created to be as a person. When you become more like who God had in mind when he formed you, everything else falls into place. When you become more like who God designed you to be from the very beginning, you shed all the layers of doubt and insecurity, and you boldly step into your highest potential.

This is what 2020 can be for you. This is what God directed goals can do in your life.

We often put labels of professions on this, which then overwhelm us with indecision not knowing what we want to be when we grow up. Hey, can I have a moment of total and complete honesty here with you … I had no clear picture what I wanted to be until I stumbled into it in my 30’s. Drop the label. Don’t get stuck in WHAT you’re going to do in life. You can really do anything you want to do. If you wanted to go back to school, you could. If you wanted to be a nurse or a teacher, you could. Others with less time and less resources, who were older than you with more kids than you have done it. There are no limits in what. God has created an entire buffet of options for you and I believe he says, “my daughter, it’s all available to you, what do you want?”

I’ve discovered this journey is so much more about the HOW than the WHAT. It’s HOW we live that causes us to become. You can be a wealthy professional and be broke and greedy. You can be a freaking fitness model and be insecure and jealous. You can be a life coach and be miserable and stuck. What if our focus became more about becoming who we were created to be.

God didn’t make you broken. You do not have some inherent flaw in you that renders you incapable of change or growth. That’s nonsense. And for many it’s served as an impenetrable excuse through the years. We now have a choice … carry the excuse and continue to live below our potential, or drop it and step on up to the more that is available to us.

What if we simplified our focus into becoming exactly who we were created to be. THE PERSON OF YOU. You were never created to be negative or grouchy. You were never created to be addicted or enslaved. You were never created to be overwhelmed or hopeless. THAT IS NOT WHO YOU ARE. Not you at your core. Not the woman God created.

Let’s be specific with this:

What if in 2020 you had a goal of becoming more like the wife you were created to be, then every month you took a specific action step towards being that wife. You know the wife you were truly created to be wouldn’t nag. She would be positive and encouraging. She would be patient and loving. You know the wife you were created to be wouldn’t be distracted and scattered. She would be attentive and present. So, the overall goal of becoming the wife you were created to be becomes measurable goals such as learn and speak my husbands love language daily, unplug by 7 pm, kiss him goodnight, go on a monthly date night. These goals change HOW you’re living, and therefore guide you to becoming more like WHO you were created to be.

Freaking magical … and life changing!

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Our God has great plans for each of us. Scripture tells us the creator of the universe has specific plans for each of us and when he looks at us, he thinks of those plans. Meaning, he sees our potential. He knows what you’re capable of. He knows what’s inside of you. He knows the life you could live and he’s making a way for you to step into it. His plans are to prosper you, meaning he never intends for you to be stuck, or for you to settle for less than his best. His plan is to help you breakthrough. His intention is to build you up to the next level of living. He has a plan to let you truly step into the BIG Life he has available for you. Let His plans flow through your goals for 2020.

Most of us have written goals before and most of us have failed miserably at those goals. The majority of people write goals and then forget about them before the first month is over. But it doesn’t have to be this way. If you’re willing to get up and show up and get out of the way and truly live this new year unleashed without old chains, then God has more available to you in 2020 than you can possibly imagine. Are you willing to spend some serious time praying about what God has available to you? Are you willing to surrender your goals to God and ask for his guidance in making a plan for your new year?

Perhaps this is what has been missing in past years. You’ve been trying to conqueror, but haven’t been conquering, you’ve been losing … could it be because you forgot one key element?

Romans 8:37 says “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

You’re a conqueror THROUGH HIM. Let your goals go THROUGH HIM. He has the most amazing plan for you my sister, make sure you’re looking for his plan, I promise it is better than yours. Partner with him in writing your goals.

Here are 7 questions to ask of your Creator before writing your 2020 goals:

1. God, who did you create me to be?
2. God, where am I living below my potential?
3. God, what do you have available for me?
4. God, what do you want me to invest in this year?
5. God, where do you want me to change?
6. God, what do you want me to give up?
7. God, what awesome things can we do together?

(I will tell you, prayer number 7 rocked my world this year … God, what awesome things can we do together? He and I did some pretty awesome things together in 2019, and it started with asking him. Remember, ask and you will receive. We often do not have because we do not ask.)

Our God is all powerful, but he’s not going to plow through you to make a way for your breakthrough. If you’re blocking the door, then God’s been waiting on you to move. Where have you been blocking God’s work in your life? Has it been with your negative thinking, convinced something is wrong with you, somehow you are unworthy and unable? Gosh, what a line of garbage from the enemy you’ve been buying as your truth. You can stop that now.

Listen to me, Colossians 2:10 tells me YOU ARE COMPLETE IN HIM. Honey, you’re lacking nothing. You have been equipped with every single thing needed to step fully into your potential and become the woman you were created to be.

If you’re more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, you know what this means? It means you’re a champion. But you’re only a champion with him. Leave him out and you go back to losing. Our hardest struggles often come because we’re trying to do this on our own. And I don’t know about you, but I can really screw things up on an epic level when I do this on my own. How about we stop doing that!

Hold your head high sister and put those shoulders back. You’ve got this because God’s got you. Get out of the way. Believe what God says about you is true. Believe he can and will work miracles in your life if you will remove the limits you’ve placed on yourself and on Him. Within you at this moment is everything you need to blow your own darn mind in 2020. All the potential is there. Won’t you decide you will start living up to what God has placed in you?

1. God, who did you create me to be?
2. God, where am I living below my potential?
3. God, what do you have available for me?
4. God, what do you want me to invest in this year?
5. God, where do you want me to change?
6. God, what do you want me to give up?
7. God, what awesome things can we do together?
