When you woke up this morning, what were you expecting? Were you expecting today to be just another Thursday? Were you expecting to have to drag your butt through this day? Has it become your habit to wake up expecting nothing much of anything phenomenal? Have you forgotten who your God is and what he can do? With a God like our God loving us, you know what we should do? We should wake up with expectant hearts knowing he is doing the impossible on our behalf.
Picture this … A nest filled with baby birds. They hear the sound of their mama returning from her hunt so they throw their little heads back and open their mouths wide. Just waiting, expecting, anticipating what goodness mama is going to give them.
Do you have your mouth open wide today? In other words, are you expecting God to fill you and increase you beyond measure? Are you ready for him to satisfy your needs and desires with good things?
That baby bird, with his mouth open wide is trusting it will be fed. Expecting it. Ready for it.
And it should be the same with us. We need to keep our spiritual mouths open by expecting the goodness of God to satisfy us. Negative thinking is like closing our mouth, and a closed mouth can’t be filled. Did you catch that – negative thinking is like closing our mouth and a closed mouth can’t be filled. If you mind is filled with all that is wrong and all that could go wrong, it’s going to be real hard for God to come in and fill you up with goodness today. Nope, your jaw is locked and your lips are sealed. None of his goodness is getting through.
And here’s what Jesus is saying today – Why don’t you take the limits off? Why don’t you believe for supernatural opportunities? Why don’t you trust me for provision beyond measure? Why don’t you just open your mouth wide and let me fill you up with everything you need?
Philippians 4:19 “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
The God who comes to my nest and provides goodness for me wants to come to your nest today and fill you up!!!!! Won’t you open your mouth?
The baby bird waiting for food isn’t concerned about where the mother is going to get the worm from. Nope, that baby isn’t fretting – Gosh how is mama going to find a worm today? What if there are no worms to be found? What if mama can’t provide today? What if there isn’t enough for me?
It simply opens its mouth, trusting and waiting.
Now why don’t you do the same today?
Trust that God is working behind the scenes. He is doing things you simply can’t see from your nest. He is working on your behalf. Don’t you know he’s pulling off the miraculous for you today? If you open your mouth wide to God, you won’t be disappointed. God is faithful to his word and he will fill you and satisfy you when you put your trust in him. And here’s what I really love about God – he knows EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED.
Psalm 107:9 “For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
I don’t have to know how God is going to work all my messes out for good. I don’t have to know how he’s going to use every element of my past to create something beautiful in my future. I don’t have to know where he’s going to dig up the resources I seek. I don’t have to know how all the pieces are going to fit together. I just have to trust he is going to show up at just the right time and provide exactly what I need. And me, well I just gotta keep my mouth open knowing what he is bringing me will fill me up.
Deep down do you honestly feel like God hasn’t provided? Could it be because your mouth has been closed? Again, how do we close our mouths? With worry, doubt and negative thinking.
We close ourselves off from the very things God is trying to do for us when we wallow in our negativity. How hard are you making it for God to bless you? He is a good, good Father and he has goodness for you today. Won’t you believe and trust him and be open to his provision?
Hey God here we are – waiting, trusting, believing in you. Fill us up today. Provide. Bring it on. We are waiting for your goodness.
