God is not in a hurry. He’s in no rush. He knows exactly what he is doing and he knows there’s time for it to happen.

Us on the other hand, well we rush. We spend our days hurried and worried. Ya’ll we just woke up to a once in a lifetime kinda day and sadly our habit will be to think about what’s coming next and miss what’s here now. Within this day are things that will never, ever happen again. Offerings which will expire and never again pass our way. Will we rush on by? Will hurry be our pace?

At the beginning of this summer, I led the BIG Life girls I mentor in choosing an intentional pace for Summer 2020. A speed which they will assume in their days of this season. I chose UNHURRIED. I have a tendency to rush my way right through the most beautiful of things. I can be smack dab in the middle of bliss and miss it because I’m planning the next thing. And this summer I decided I would assume a different pace. An unhurried pace where I sit in the moment and savor the here and now.

In this unhurried pace you know what I’ve found … I’ve found plenty of time to do all I need to do, along with less stress and worry. I’ve found fulfillment in my days I’ve never known before. All because I unrushed myself.

God is not in a hurry. You are. That’s why you’re tired. That’s why you’re anxious. That’s why you’re stressed and disappointed.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

You don’t have to hurry your way through this, afterall this is your life. Remember your days are numbered and you don’t get this one back. You choose how you spend it. Spend it anxious and stressed and come to the end of it tired and disappointed … OR NOT. How about not? Seriously, how about we choose something different?

God has allotted time for all of this, your rush is not required here.

I can’t be the only one who can drink the most delicious cup of coffee and do nothing but think about what’s next. I can’t be the only one who can watch a beautiful sunset and wish it would just hurry up and set already because I have things I need to be doing. I can’t be the only one who struggles to slow down and savor what is now because I’m preparing for what is coming. Is that you too?

Wherever you are today, be there. Be there with all of you. Dare to stay there and linger for a bit. There’s no rush here. What’s your hurry sister?

We raise our kids and rush their entire childhood. We tell them to hurry when their pace is more God driven than our own. No girl, stop and look today. Slow down and savor today. Smell the flowers, pet the dog, look at the sky, feel the breeze. This is all a gift from your creator. Accept it instead of rushing by it.

Whatever you’re meant to have, sister there will be time for you to have it. But first, be faithful with what you have been given here today.

What have you been given today? What miraculous answers to prayers are literally your everyday reality now? What dream come true are you living in? Look at all God has done. Like seriously, SLOW DOWN AND LOOK AT IT. Gosh, how absolutely incredible.

Will you be faithful with the beauty and blessings of today, or will you rush on by? Decide now. Set your pace.

Let’s ask God to help us unrush ourselves.

Lord, help us assume your pace. Remind us there is time for everything. Guide us in fully living the season we’re in. What we have today we won’t always have, so help us to realize it while we still have it.
