How much of your life is just okay? It’s not great and it’s not terrible, it’s just okay. You woke up okay today and accepted this as your standard. Okay living.
And it’s totally NOT OKAY.
You’re a freaking walking talking miracle. You shouldn’t even be here! For some of us it’s medically impossible for us to even have breath, yet here we are breathing. Breathing with no effort. Hearts beating without even thinking about it. Holy crap how’s that even possible for you?
For others what you went through should have put you in a dark corner and kept you there, but you made it out. You’re here today as a whole human being with the ability to use it all for good now.
Miracles I tell you, absolute miracles. Every single one of us.
Miracles can’t live okay lives. We simply can’t accept mediocrity and the status quo.
Yet, we have. We’ve settled for okay jobs, okay relationships, okay days. Not great, not bad, just okay.
And it’s here in this land of okay we get tangled in a web we never even see and are held back from our potential by our enemy. You see, we give Satan all the credit when things go horribly wrong. Darn you Satan messing with my family and our future, ruining things! But in reality I’ve found it’s actually God who allows things to go horribly wrong to get me back on the right path. Satan’s work is in the “okay work.” He takes away the thrill of living and makes everything unimpressively dull. He bores us with repetitive nothingness and steals our zest for living. He works to make us forget what miracles we are and how miraculous life really is.
And he’s been darn successful hasn’t he?
Here we are walking around as miraculous creations of the Almighty, surrounded by miracles every second of the day and we never even see it. We’re not on fire for life, we’re bored! We’re not full of energy and zest, we’re sleepy and unimpressed.
Lord, please remove the scales from our eyes to once again see life for what it is.
Jesus said in John 10: 10 “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
Who did he come for? He came specifically for YOU! Why did he come for you? To give you life so that you could live it fully. We’re talking a BIG Life, that’s why he came.
As we celebrate Christmas and remember that baby in a manger who was God himself coming to save the world, remember it was a personal move for YOU. He came so that you could have more than just an okay life.
Once you understand what has been done for you, you can never settle for okay again. When you understand if you were the only person on Earth, God would have done it all just for you. For God so loved YOU that he gave his one and only son, so that you would not perish but you would have life. So that you would have life and have it BIG.
And somehow we have taken this life that Christ paid everything for, and we’ve made it a list of chores and duties and filled it with okay moments we don’t even remember at the end of the day. We’ve settled. He paid everything and we’ve settled.
Who have we settled with? The thief. Yes, the thief that Jesus warned us about. He said it in the same verse, John 10:10 just before he told us about the life he came to give us. He warned us of the thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy.
Who is that thief? Satan himself.
What’s he here to steal? Your zest for living.
What’s he here to kill? Your potential.
What’s he here to destroy? Your BIG life.
How does that sneaky little sucker do it? He tricks us into settling for an okay life.
Okay is comfortable. Okay pays the bills. Okay makes it easy to sleep at night.
But do you think Jesus came and gave his all for you to have an okay life? HECK NO! He gave it all so you could have it all. The good plans of God you read about in Jeremiah 29:11, you know those plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future, those plans were funded by Jesus. It wasn’t cheap and it wasn’t easy. Now, in response you can’t possibly settle for a cheap and easy life.
Your life was meant to be thrilling. You should have woke up excited for this. This is the ride of a lifetime and you only pass through here once. Why aren’t your eyes wide open? Why aren’t you breathing this all in deep? Why isn’t your heart beating out of your chest with excitement? Why didn’t you expect today to be totally unforgettable? Why have you forgotten you are a miracle? Why is your passion not just bursting out of you and covering every soul you come in contact with like confetti?
Why?
Because maybe the thief has stolen from you. Maybe he’s been killing and destroying but you never even noticed because he made it all just okay. And okay has become normal and comfortable.
It’s time to take back what is yours. Take back what Jesus bought for you with his blood. Take back that full life. That abundant life. That exciting life. That BIG Life. This is what you were created for. This is what was bought for you. This is what is being fought over right now in the heavenly realms.
Angels and demons are in a battle for your life. The demons are fighting for your life to just be okay. Okay keeps you blinded to your truth. Okay lulls you to a sleepy lazy land as opportunities pass you by. And the demons know if you are tricked into that sleepy, lazy, comfortable okay life, you will never step into your potential, fulfilling your purpose. But the angels are fighting for you to wake the heck up and get excited about the life available to you here.
This is where we decide okay is no longer okay. Something absolutely amazing is happening here today … it’s called your life.
You’re going to want to be awake for this!!!!!!
