Do you think God doesn’t understand why you struggle with the things you struggle with? Do you think he can’t understand this thing holding you back? And do you think he’s angry at you for the hurt it causes or the distance it has created?
Honey, our God is so much bigger than the box we try to put him in. He sees it all, knows it all, and orchestrated the end from the very beginning, this stuff in between isn’t causing him to question choosing you. You may fail, but he knows the potential within you won’t always be kept down. You may struggle, but he knows the strength he has given you to overcome. You may question, but his truth is still planted deep within you. God’s not all shook up because you forgot to pray before you fell asleep last night. He’s not butt-hurt because you’ve failed to check with him today before you make your plans. He’s not giving you the silent treatment because you didn’t follow through with your commitments to him last time. He hasn’t turned his back on you because you keep screwing this thing up. He’s not petty. Nor is he needy. He is over all things, like literally, he is over it already. He’s over it and he’s moved on, you can too.
You don’t have to carry that guilt and shame with you for one more day. You don’t have to replay the story in your head again and see all you wish you would have done differently. You don’t have to feel condemnation, that’s not yours to carry. That’s the enemy poking at wounds and picking at scabs. Jesus already covered all of this so that you could walk in freedom with wholeness.
God gets you. Others may not get you. Heck, you may not even get yourself. You may be a complete mystery to your own darn self, not understanding why you do the things you do, but God gets you. He understands your struggles. He is intimately involved with the hurts that cause you to hold back. He knows the disappointments. He knows the fears. He’s already made sense of it all, and he’s not mad at his beloved girl while you struggle. He’s the opposite of mad … he’s compassionate. He’s patient. He’s empathetic. He co-suffers with you. Whatever hurts you hurts him too, and he wants to help heal that.
Hebrews 4: 15-16 MSG “Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.”
God with all of his infinite wisdom, power and authority, didn’t sit on a throne and wonder why his people struggle with the things they struggle with. He came to earth himself in human form and took on every single thing we would ever encounter. This is why Jesus came. He came to be in touch with our reality. He came to take on our human weakness, to withstand the testing, to experience the struggle and the conflict, and endure the battle, all so he could relay to God our reality. SO GOD COULD UNDERSTAND.
Maybe you’ve been shamefully avoiding God because you think he won’t understand. But sweet sister, you’re wrong. He does understand. He understands exactly why you feel the way you feel. He understands the questions in your mind and the hurt in your heart. He understands why you withdraw, why you hold back, why you question. He understands why you hide, why you struggle, and why you give up. He personally and intimately understands and there is absolutely ZERO condemnation directed towards you.
Romans 8:1 “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
There is only grace here. There is only mercy here. There is only compassion here with an extended hand to help.
The enemy has already done his work to cause this chaos. He’s already created this pain and orchestrated this darkness. Now, don’t allow him to use the hurt and regret you feel over it all to create a barrier in your relationship with God. NO! He doesn’t get to play here anymore. He doesn’t get to hold this over your head. He doesn’t get to pick at these scabs and hinder your healing.
Because of Jesus, God has empathy towards you. He is compassionate and patient. He is understanding and forgiving. He co-suffers with you. Whatever hurts you, hurts him. He’s not mad at you about that, he wants to help you with that.
Now, won’t you let his grace and mercy wash over you and just allow him to heal these hurts? Won’t you allow him to take away this guilt and shame? Won’t you allow him to begin healing these wounds the enemy has been poking at?
And in this process, stop feeling guilty about it. Stop feeling guilty that Jesus has to save you once again. Jesus is a Savior, saving is what he does. It is his purpose. And maybe you have experienced stepping into your purpose before … it feels amazing. It’s an indescribable feeling to know you are fulfilling your purpose. Well girl, guess what, you are giving Jesus that indescribable feeling every time he gets to come save you because that is his purpose. Saving is what he does. Let him do it without the guilt that you once again needed saving. He’s so happy to save you!
He’s up there in heaven, literally walking on cloud 9, singing “Wooohooooo! Good, good, good, good to save my girl all over again! Hallelujah, I get to save her aggggaaaaaiiiiinnnnnnnn … feels good to save my girl all over again!”
You didn’t get a Jesus who doesn’t understand why you do the things you do. You got a Jesus who understands fully, co-suffers with you, and compassionately saves you over and over again, all because HE WANTS TO.
We get a Jesus who understands. We get a Jesus who finds his holy purpose in saving us. We get a Jesus who hurts when we hurt, and has everything you need to be healed. We get a Jesus who has an infinite amount of grace and mercy for us. All we have to do is walk right up and accept it.
Well, Jesus is going to be singing on cloud 9 today because he gets to save us all over again!
