You’re here. You’re now at the line separating two years of life. The end of this year and the beginning of a new year.

God has extended an invitation for you to step into all that has never been before. 2022. Unspoiled. Untouched. Completely unseen and unlived, just waiting for you. Waiting for you to show up and live it.

I hope you’ve decided that’s exactly what you will be doing with this priceless offering of a fresh start and clean slate. I hope you’ve decided to LIVE it. I mean really LIVE it. Live it like this is what you’ve been waiting your whole life for, because actually, you have.

Every stage of your life has brought you here. Every season you had to go through, every storm you survived, every monumental beginning and end has brought you to this … the line between 2021 and 2022. Now, as you cross that line, take these 3 things with you:

Guts.
Grace.
Gratitude.

1. GUTS

God has aligned opportunities for you in your new year of life you couldn’t even imagine this year. The connections have already been made. The divine details have been designed. It’s all waiting for you sis, you just need the guts to step into it.

But, you won’t see it all. You will only see the very beginning. You will see the first step of the staircase and be invited to see where it leads one step at a time. This will not be easy. This will not be certain. This will not be comfortable. This will require some serious guts.

Will you have the guts to seize the opportunities your creator has waiting for you? Will you dare to believe you’re the one he has chosen for this and show up for it? Will you still move forward when staying where you are would be so much easier?

This is what God wants to know of you. Will you have the courage to take his hand and let him lead you into the great unknown? Will your faith flow all the way to your feet and move you forward? We’re not going back here girlfriend. Life doesn’t work that way. We can never return to 2021 again. Not 2020 (not that anyone would probably want to). Not 2015. Not 2010. Life only moves forward.

Will your courage lead you forward to the opportunities God has aligned for you, or will you stay stuck in what happened or didn’t happen and stall your progress in this one and only life you get? Dig deep. This requires guts!

Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”

You have all the power, all the love, and all the self-discipline to move forward here. Step across the line from 2021 into 2022 with strength and courage. God is with you girl!

2. GRACE

With that guts, you need grace. You know why? Because your sheer willpower and works don’t impress God. Every day won’t always be a 100% day. Real life will come crashing into your plans and you will be derailed along the way. And know when that happens, it’s not an accident, it’s a collision with grace.

Grace to remind you your perfection is not required here. Grace to prove your works do not define your worth. Grace that will bring you back when you fell away. Grace that will allow you to still make progress when you couldn’t make it perfect.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

For each of your weaknesses, God has a perfectly matched measure of his grace. This is where his grace works best. Where you can’t do it on your own, his power can work through you. Find those places in your life. Identify all you can’t do in your own power. List where you’ve tried and failed. Where you’ve been defeated more times than you’ve ever won. Where your confidence has been attacked and you feel unequipped. Yes, there… that’s where grace wants to do it’s work in 2022.

Girl, get ready to see God’s power at work where you have been weak. Walk into this new year with grace.

3. GRATITUDE

Now, one final thing to go with your guts and grace, lather yourself in gratitude. Like get down and roll around in it. Let gratitude get all over you, covering everything you are carrying, everything you are working on, everything you hope for, everything you don’t know what to do with, every relationship, every project, every dream, every goal. All of it. Let it soak in gratitude.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

There may be circumstances you can’t be thankful FOR, but it is God’s will for you to be thankful IN it. Do you know what this gratitude is so important? Gratitude is an intentional shift of your thoughts from negative to positive. It is the “take captive every thought and make it obedient” (2 Corinthians 10:5). Our thoughts do not get free reign of our mind. Without our intentional direction, our thoughts will run through gutters and in dark alleys. They will through pity parties and broadcast worst case scenario on the big screen.

But gratitude ends all of that. Gratitude leaves no space for personal pity. Gratitude is busy listing all that is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. All that is excellent and worthy of praise as we are told to think about in Philippians 4:8. This is gratitude in action. When you’re busy being grateful, you don’t have time to be complaining. There’s no place for stress, worry and overwhelm when your thoughts are filled with sheer gratitude.

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.”

If you’re thinking pitiful thoughts, you begin to feel pitiful, then you act pitiful, and dang pretty soon you are plain old pitiful. And oh girl, pitiful does NOT look good on you. Seriously that’s some unattractive crap!

Misery is optional, but it’s never a good option. Misery doesn’t come in your color, so don’t choose it.

Gratitude literally changes the way you see your world and allows you to experience the fullness of life intended for you. IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

It’s not always easy, but it is possible.

So girl, cross this line between the year that has been and the year that is now in the offering, and walk in with guts, grace and gratitude! Dare to see what God has been working on for you. Opportunities have already been aligned. Now it’s up to you to have the guts, grace and gratitude to move forward!
