Why do we dismiss ourselves from the absolute goodness God has for us? Why do we assume we are on the outside when God sent his son to bring us on the inside? How can we read the promises of God and believe they don’t apply to us right where we are?

Girl, every single promise of God is yours to claim for today. At this moment, his promises are being fulfilled specifically for you. Believe God is who he says he is, and God will do what he said he will do.

Last week I was listening to a song called Good God Almighty by Crowder. It’s goes like this:

Tell me, is He good? (He’s good)
Tell me, is He God? (He’s God)
He is good God Almighty

Jesus in the morning
Jesus in the noontime
Jesus when the sun goes down

Oh I can sing it, but what about when I’m going through hardships, when life has been turned upside down and doors have slammed shut, do I really still believe he is good God Almighty? Or do I believe he is only good God Almighty for some, and sometimes for me he is something less than good? Does my less than good cause God to be less than good? Do I change God? Do you change God?

What comes next in that song nearly took my breath away, so I had to stop and look up the lyrics, take a screen shot and save it in my “Ideas From God” notes on my phone. (Yes, that’s where I keep these seemingly random ideas God plops into my mind at all hours of the day.) Here ‘s the next part of the song:

You say Your love goes on forever, that Your mercy never stops
So why would I assume You’d be somebody that You’re not
Oh girl, have we been assuming God is somebody he’s not? Have we not taken him at his word, trusted those promises are really for us, and built our lives on that truth? Have we been assuming God is against us and not really for us? Have we been assuming those good plans for us may have turned bad while we were screwing up and God was busy doing other things? Have we assumed God strengthens us to do some things, but not all things, and this thing we’re facing right now probably isn’t covered?

What assumptions of God have screwed you up girlfriend? Don’t you know if God promised it, it’s a done deal? If he said it, it’s undeniable, unshakable, eternal truth? And if he offered it, you’re covered by it sister.

Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?”

God IS carrying through on every single thing he ever promised. He is actively working in the details of your life to fulfill the good plans he had for you before your first breath. He hasn’t changed his mind on you. He hasn’t decided that thing in your past must change your destiny. No, he’s decided that thing in your past will be used for good along the way to your destiny. He’s here fulfilling his promises, never changing his mind, using all things together for good.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.”

God is steadfast, even when you are shaky as heck. God is faithful even when you fail. You haven’t been perfect Sis, but you’ve been covered in the perfect blood of Jesus, so even though you don’t always get it right, you’ve been declared righteous. So, this faithful God of ours is keeping his covenant with us and his love will not be shaken. THAT IS WHO HE IS AND YOU CAN BANK ON IT.

Why would you assume God would be anything but faithful? Why would you assume he would change his mind, his mind does not change. Why would you assume he would cancel his covenant just because you’ve been shaky on your end? He is good God Almighty and he will do what he said he will do!

Remember our “Machine Gun Jesus” devotional last week where we use the word as our weapon, and we load our clip to fire off in this battle? Well, today we’re loading your clip again… here we go!

God says he can do the impossible. (Luke 18:27)

God says he is with you to strengthen you, to help you and hold you up. (Isaiah 41:10)

God says he is light and in him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5)

God says his thoughts are bigger and his ways are better than anything you could ever imagine. (Isaiah 55: 8-9)

God says nothing is too hard for him. (Genesis 18:14)

God says his grace is sufficient for you and in his power works perfectly in you. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

God says he is unchanging. (Malachi 3:6)

God says he is merciful towards you. (Deuteronomy 4:31)

God says he is gracious and compassionate and if you return to him, he will always accept you. (2 Corinthians 30:9)

God says he will withhold no good thing from those who have been made righteous, and Sister, Jesus has made you righteous. (Psalm 84:11 & Romans 5:1)

This is who God is and what he does, why would you ever assume he would be anything else? Why would you assume his promises don’t apply to you? Why would you take your specific reality and disqualify it from God’s truth and power?

No, God is who he said he is, and he is fulfilling his promises to YOU! Never assume anything else.

Even when it looks impossible, you can safely assume God is doing the impossible for you personally, because that’s exactly what God does.

When you feel weak, you go ahead and assume God is providing supernatural strength for you to do exactly what you need to do, because actually he is!

When the darkness threatens to invade your mind and consume your heart, you call on Jesus because he is light and his light will drive out that darkness.

When you think you’ve reached the peak and your best days are already behind you, girl think again because God’s dreams for you are bigger than you could ever imagine.

Yes, take these words as they are meant for you right here and right now and assume nothing less of your good God Almighty. He is who he says he is and he will do every single thing he says he will do. Guaranteed. Done deal. He is good God Almighty.
