What if the way has already been made, but it’s up to you to take the next step along the way? What if the victory is already yours, but the battle will still be required? What if God is totally FOR YOU in this, and your fear is the only thing holding you back?
I wonder what your fear has been costing you. You have been fearing what could happen, so you never fully show up for what IS happening. You fear not being enough, so you’ve completely missed the truth that God has already made you more than enough. You fear failure, so you forfeit success.
Girl, you don’t even know the victories God has already declared you will walk in! You don’t even know how YOU will be the one he uses to break these chains. These generational burdens that have been passed down in your family, they are to stop with YOU, but you don’t see that in yourself yet. Maybe you haven’t fully accepted that when Jesus said “with God, all things are possible”, he was talking about YOU specifically with God. When YOU are with God, ALL things are possible.
If all you’re doing is looking at things that are impossible and feeling defeated, you’re missing the whole point. Jesus says look at those impossible things and go forward WITH GOD and watch them be made possible! You’re holding back when God is calling you to go all-in!
What will this holding back cost you? What will you forfeit as you tip toe around what you COULD be doing, worrying about what MIGHT happen? What will your assumed position of ‘not good enough’ and ‘incapable’, cause you to miss in God’s good plans for your life?
ANSWER: Goodness you’re not willing to miss.
My Sister, what God has for you is so ridiculously good, you can’t afford for your fear to make you forfeit. Where God is leading you is so much bigger than the things that stand in your way. He will strengthen you to move forward if you will just pick up your foot.
The problem is, you’re no longer picking up your foot. You’re standing here with your feet planted, looking at the overwhelming journey, convinced you can’t do it. And you’re right … you can’t. But God can, and he will take you along with him when you start picking up your foot again. God’s not going to drag you into this victory, you will be required to move forward in faith.
What happens when you’re no longer willing to move forward in faith? You get stuck in your fear and you forfeit the victory God had available for you.
This is exactly what happened to Moses and the Israelites. They had been walking in miraculous victory. They had seen God’s mighty and powerful hand at work on their behalf. And God intended to bring them into their Promised Land of Canaan with continued victory, but they stopped when they began believing a fear report.
Yes, a fear report. A story that tells you it’s too hard, it’s too much, and you’re not enough. A story that even tells the facts truthfully, but drops the faith required to move past it. Have you believed a fear report? Have you stopped because someone told you it would take too long, it would be too difficult, and it would require more than you have? Hmmmmmmmm, how do you feel about that now?
Numbers 13:1 “The Lord said to Moses, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders.” There were 12 tribes, so one leader from each made 12 spies.
So these 12 men went to Canaan, and they did as they were told. They checked out the land and the abundance it produced. They witnessed how their people worked and moved. Then after 40 days they returned to Moses and the Israelites with their report.
Oh, indeed the land was good, it was flowing with milk and honey. It was everything they had wanted, and make note of this, it was everything God had promised them. It was literally their PROMISED LAND. God had promised to give this to them. But, the problem came when 10 of the 12 spies shared their fear report. They spread their fear, convincing the Israelites they would surely die if they were to try to take this Promised Land. They told stories of how big the Cananites were and how impossible they would be to defeat.
And with that fear report, Moses and the Israelites forgot what God had already told them. What had he said? He said, “send some men to explore the land of Canaan, WHICH I AM GIVING TO THE ISRAELITES.”
God had told them to send the spies so they could see for themselves the land he was giving them was soooooo good. He wanted them to be prepared for the battle knowing they would need to go take that land, having confidence that God had already guaranteed them the victory. Instead, they forgot that God was FOR them, and they got overwhelmed in FEAR, therefore FORFEITING their FAVOR.
Have you done the same? Isn’t that exactly what we have done too? We have forgotten God is FOR us, we have gotten overwhelmed in FEAR, and we have FORFEITED our FAVOR. We’re no longer moving FORWARD because our FEAR is holding us hostage, when Jesus came to set us FREE.
Psalm 90:17 “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.”
When scripture repeats something, it’s to get our attention. Twice it is mentioned the work of our hands, meaning GIRL, YOU BETTER BE WORKING! How are you going to experience God’s favor if you’re not doing anything? How are you going to get to where God is leading you if you’re not moving forward? Oh what, you wanted God to be more like a genie in a bottle and just make all your wishes come true. Nope, it doesn’t work that way.
God says “I’m giving you this” … but you’re going to have to do your part!
What fear report have you believed in your life? Where have you bought into the story that it will be too hard for you? Where have you assumed you’re simply not good enough to ever win this victory? Daughter of the King, real life Warrior Princess, you have forgotten the favor of the Lord is upon you! You have dismissed his promises over your life, and you have instead accepted these fear reports as your truth.
NO MORE! If God says he is giving you this, then it’s as good as done WHEN YOU SHOW UP FOR IT. But if you won’t show up for it, if you won’t move forward into it, then you forfeit this favor and fail to ever walk in all that was possible for you.
Numbers 14: 20-23 The Lord said, “I have forgiven them … Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth, not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times— not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.”
The Israelites wandered in the desert outside of their Promised Land for 40 years, not because it wasn’t possible for them to get out of the desert, not because they weren’t good enough for the victory, and not because God didn’t already have his favor aligned for them … but because they forfeited it all in fear. Did God forgive them, absolutely. But they forfeited their favor in their fear and they never lived in what God had promised them.
What have you forfeited in fear? What will you continue to forfeit in fear? I assure you, this fear you hide behind playing little is not pleasing to God. He’s not pleased with his chosen, set apart, empowered, strengthened, destined girls to be here now settling for less than everything he promised us.
He says today, MOVE FORWARD. Yes, in the face of this fear report, cling to your faith and know everything I have promised you still stands true.
His favor is upon you, drop the fear and move forward in faith.
