Here in BIG Life we endeavor to help people live the life they were Created for. Setting goals, making plans, taking actions, holding each other accountable and growing through each version of this process to get better. And it never fails. Time and time again the one aspect of this process that is the most difficult is the ‘Taking Action’ part.

We don’t do the things we know we should.
We do the things we know we shouldn’t.
Sound familiar to anyone? (Lonnie raises hand).
And while this battle of making the right choice is getting more difficult as the options and distractions grow, it’s a struggle as old as time.
Let’s hear from Paul how it plays out for him…

Romans 7:15,18,19,24 (NIV)

15 – I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

18 (2nd half)- For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

19 – For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.

24 – What a wretched man I am!

This battle taking place in the mind of Paul, along with every other man and woman on the planet, is the battle of heaven and hell because choices accumulate. Like pennies in a penny jar, they seem minuscule in the moment but over time? Massive!
Our choices can add up with compounding interest to become a great asset, or they can slowly pile up over time with interest to become a great burden of debt.

There is a quote from one of my favorite movies ’The Usual Suspects’; “The greatest trick the devil ever played was to convince the world he didn’t exist”. And while I think this could very well be true, a close second would be…
To convince you this choice doesn’t matter.
This bite, this drink, this pill, this conversation, this missed workout, watching this image or video, this … Whatever it is that you know you should do or should not do – This Choice. That it doesn’t matter when in-fact, it is the very essence of life.

It was also Paul who, multiple times, compared life to Running the race. Life, just like a race, is a challenge. It is very easy to become discouraged by all the miles to be run. When a race, like life, is merely a lot of little steps accumulated over time. One choice after another.

Question is, who’s race are you running?

John 10:10 – Enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus comes that you have life to the full.
DEUTERONOMY 30: God says; I set before you life and death – Choose Life!

I think if we’re honest with ourselves, which isn’t easy to do by-the-way, we all know this. We all know the choices we make are serving either the cause of life or the cause of destruction. That we want to be running our race with Christ and not running with the devil. The REAL deception is believing we don’t have to run at all. That we can somehow avoid life, avoid failure and disappointment by just sitting it out and watching others run. But life isn’t a spectator sport. The gun of the clock goes off for all of us and just because you choose not to run, doesn’t mean the clock stops for you. No. The clock comes for us all. The sun rises and sets for you, just like it does me. Maybe your temptation isn’t to sell your soul to gain an advantage in the race? Maybe your temptation is selling your soul to sit it out? Make no mistake. God did not Create you to avoid life. He Created you to live it to the fullest.

Today’s race like every other, is nothing more (or less) than a series of steps – choices.
Will you be accumulating Life or Death?
Will be running today with Christ or will you be running with the Devil?

Alright ladies, that’s it for me today. Tomorrow you should be returned to your regular scheduled broadcast with Pamela. It’s been my humble honor to be with you here today.
