I am a firm believer in goals. I’ve dedicated my life to teaching women how to set and achieve goals that will honor the fullness of life God created them for. Goals that will pull them out of the ruts of life and push them toward the overflowing abundance their creator has available for them. Goals that will drive us towards more in life while finding joy on the journey there.

This Saturday, December 30th, I will be teaching a free Goal Setting Broadcast on Zoom and Facebook. I will personally teach you the goal setting system it has taken me exactly 15 years to create. I will show you how to take big lofty dreams and turn them into daily action steps that put you on the trajectory to make those dreams a reality. I will show you how to take full responsibility for your choices without creating ruts of shame and guilt for a lack of perfection. I will show you how to learn from both your successes and your mistakes each month, and use them to make you undeniably better with each new month offered. And I will show you how to bring the joy and the fun back into your days so you intentionally create the legacy of a woman who lived, who laughed and who loved.

But, before I teach you the goal setting system, I have some important groundwork for you. Together, we will use this week between Christmas and New Year as a time to prepare for 2024 goals. If you will dedicate 10 minutes each day between today, Tuesday, 12/26 and Saturday, 12/30, you will have the clarity you seek to write truly effective and God directed goals for your new year.

Here’s how it will work: I’m going to guide you through 7 questions to ask your Creator before you write your goals for 2024. We will tackle a few questions on each episode this week to prepare you for our Goal Setting Broadcast over the weekend. Then, you invest 10 minutes each day to bring those questions to God, and journal the answers he prompts you with.

My sister, I assure you, the Holy Spirit is real and and alive. If you are a follower of Christ, you can ask for the Holy Spirit to dwell within you. You can seek Him for guidance. You can receive divine ideas and revelations from him. If you offer space to the Holy Spirit, He will bring clarity where there was confusion, He will show you the way where there was no way, He will stir up hope where you feel hopeless, and He will strengthen you where you are weak.

Maybe that sounds mystical and magical … well, honestly it is! It’s crazy wild that the Spirit of God would dwell within us. It’s totally bizarre that the one who created the entire universe would choose to personally guide you with a hand that cannot be seen. All I can say is, lean in to the mystery. Stop trying to understand it. You have an invitation into something totally magical. Just accept it.

In the beginning, listening for the promptings of the Holy Spirit may feel awkward. However, with practice, you’ll see when you surrender your thoughts to God and seek his promptings over your own, your thoughts change. When your thoughts begin to change, lean in.

So, let’s begin with the first question.

Question #1 to ask your Creator before you write your 2024 goals: God, who did you create me to be?

Psalm 139:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” But do you? Do you really know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made? Do you really know and believe that God’s works concerning you are wonderful? Do you accept that you are his masterpiece, or are you still beating yourself up convinced there is something wrong with you?

My sister, there is nothing wrong with you! Your struggles are God’s opportunity to prove himself enough in your life. With God, you are enough … more than enough. Now, who did he design you to be?

Ask him that question, then sit with it. Begin writing, “God I want to be every single thing you created me to be.” Then let him show you who that girl is. Let him show you how she lives, what she does, how she wakes up, and where she’s going.

If you can receive the image of who God truly created you to be, girl, nothing would hold you back. Whew, you wouldn’t play little for one more day! You wouldn’t dare settle for less when you know God made you for more.

And that brings us to the second question.

Question #2 to ask your Creator before you write your 2024 goals: God, where am I living below my potential?

Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” You’re created to do good things and God prepared those good things in advance for you to do. He created you perfectly for these specific good things … so where have you settled for less and stopped short of your full potential?

Where have you dismissed yourself as not good enough? Where have you played little when God’s work for you are so much bigger?

You’re lacking nothing, however you haven’t been using all you have been given. Identify that. Lord, show us!

The enemy is a slimy snake who slithers his way into our self-worth and whispers lies. Lies that tell us there’s nothing special about us. Lies that tell us we will never be good enough. Lies that tell us no one will ever want us. Lies that tell us God could never use us. Lies that keep us held back in chains, restrained from the potential God placed within us so perfectly.

Well, let me tell you something, Sis, 2024 is your chain breaking year! You’re not settling for those chains in the promise of the new year. You won’t be overwhelmed in this darkness for one more year. Lord, shine a light on my potential. Show me who you created me to be and what you put within me. Set me free from the lies that have held me back.

Help me to believe your truth … your truth about me.

The first 2 questions make me think of Paul in the Bible. Paul was directed by the Holy Spirit to write the majority of the New Testament. He poured out the promises of God and the truths of his word. This was always God’s design for Paul. This potential was intentionally placed within him while God knit him together in his mother’s womb. He made that masterpiece and decided the good works he would do in this world. But do you know about Paul? I mean the Paul before his life changing encounter with Jesus on a dirt road? Paul was Saul. Saul was a bad mamma-jamma. He hated Jesus and the people who followed him. Every day, he woke up on a mission to destroy all Christians.

But, that didn’t change the fact that God created him as his masterpiece. No matter how wrong he was, God never cancelled his good plans for his life. But there came a day when the chains that held Saul back in a life that was less than he was created for were broken. And on that day, Jesus changed his name from Saul to Paul and called him to live up to his potential of who he was created to be.

And this gives us all hope. No matter how wrong we have been, no matter how far off track we have gotten, God’s power is absolutely unstoppable in redeeming us. He has not cancelled the good works he created you to do just because you failed to do them so far. He hasn’t given up on who he created you to be just because you failed to believe you could ever be that girl.

Lord, for anyone who needs a life changing encounter, bring it on! Wake us up. Shake us up. Change us. Set us free.

Now, will you set a timer for 10 minutes and journal your prayers and the promptings of the Holy Spirit over these 2 questions:

  1. God, who did you create me to be?
  2. God, where am I living below my potential?
