You know those problems you’ve been dealing with your whole life? Problems maybe your mama dealt with, and her mama before her … Problems you really don’t want your children to have to deal with too … Well, God wants to tell you something about those problems. Something about those things that have been running in your family for generations. Something about the things that just never seem to go away.

Oh, it may have run in your family … but it will only run in your family until it runs into you. God is making you into the person who demolishes this.

I’ve always known with faith we are girls who can move mountains. You’ve likely heard that too. The problems standing in our way can be moved with faith. That’s awesome … But then what … then aren’t those mountains left for someone else to deal with? Aren’t the mountains that once blocked us just moved on down the path for us to run into again? We’ve moved it, but it’s still there. We’ve avoided it for now, but we’ll deal with it again. We may get around it, but what about the one who’s coming next? Will they be left with the same mountain standing in their way?

I’m naturally an avoider. Like I’m seriously the most non-confrontational person you will ever meet. I would rather crawl under a table and hide than be part of an argument. But, I’ve learned the hard way, some things simply have to be faced. Some things you cannot continue to avoid. As we avoid the problem, the problem grows bigger. As we dodge the bullet, others are hit by that same bullet.

What God is showing me is, he doesn’t want me avoiding the problem. He doesn’t want me dodging the bullet. He doesn’t want me putting all my attention on moving the mountain in the way, he wants me to step into my God appointed role of mountain pulverizer!

Isaiah 41: 15, “See, I will make you into a sharp threshing board, new, with many teeth. You will thresh mountains and pulverize them and make hills into chaff. You will winnow them and a wind will carry them away, a whirlwind will scatter them.”

This scripture jumped off the pages of my Bible this morning and drew me in like a magnet. I want to know more about pulverizing mountains! To fully understand this scripture, I had to look up Youtube videos on threshing boards. If I’m going to be made into a sharp threshing board with all these teeth to pulverize the mountains that have been standing in the way, I need to understand what it is and what it does. So, I’m going to share with you what I learned. This is Biblical Agg class … are you ready?

A threshing board was a wooden board typically 3 feet wide and 5 feet long shaped much like a sled. On the bottom side of the board were carved holes which held sharp, pointed rocks or metal. The board was connected by a rope to a horse. A person would often ride on the board, adding weight to it, as it was drug over the harvest of wheat on the stone threshing floor. Again and again, it would go over the harvest. The sharp teeth on the bottom of the board would break the wheat into smaller pieces, crushing it, separating the grain from the stalk.

The threshing board ran over the grain time and time again, making it smaller and smaller, crushing it with it’s teeth, until only what was good was left, and the rest blew away with the wind.

Now, read this scripture again concerning the mountains you’ve faced your whole life. The mountains those before you faced. The mountains you don’t want to leave for your children to have to deal with one day.

“See, I will make you into a sharp threshing board, new, with many teeth. You will thresh mountains and pulverize them and make hills into chaff. You will winnow them and a wind will carry them away, a whirlwind will scatter them.”

Honey, you’re not moving this mountain, you’re threshing this mountain. You’re tearing it down. You’re pulverizing it into tiny pieces until only what is useful is left and the rest is blown away, never, ever to cause another person to stumble again.

You don’t need to move this mountain … You don’t need to avoid this mountain … You don’t need to go around this mountain again and hope it’s a long time until you deal with it again … You need to pulverize that sucker and bring it down! God is giving you the power to demolish this mountain!

What’s been running in your family and threatening to ruin your life? What dysfunction, disease, bad decisions, addiction, abuse, weakness, self-sabotage, self-doubt, coercion, confusion, or twisted truth has held you back in your life? Are you going to keep trying to just avoid that? Are you going to keep pushing it aside and leave someone else to have to deal with it? Or are you going to show up with the courage and strength God is offering you and handle this?

Yes, handle it! Do what needs to be done to take this mountain down!

God is equipping you for this! You will thresh this mountain and pulverize it. You will tear it apart, crush it, and keep only the good that can be used from it. Everything else will be carried away with the wind, never ever to stand in your way again. You’re clearing the path for future generations.

You will be the one to go to therapy and counseling and deal with this!

You will be the one to fight to get healthy and stay healthy!

You will be the one to change the trajectory of your life when those before you couldn’t change theirs.

You will be the one to make different choices and create a different legacy.

You will be the one who ends the dysfunction.

You will be the one who gets it right.

You will be the one!

God’s spirit living within you has not made you meek or timid. You are not a girl who backs down in fear over this mountain any longer. The spirit of God has given you power! You are a girl with sharp new teeth to shred this mountain!!!!!

Mountain, you’re coming down. I will go over you again and again and again, until you are nothing but tiny pieces of dust on the threshing floor! I will do the work. I will face the problem. I will make the changes. I will seek God to strengthen and equip me do what no one else has been willing to do.

I bet you have a miniature version of a threshing board in your kitchen right now. Do you know what it is? Think about it … what is it that pulverizes with it’s teeth as it runs over a piece of cheese or a carrot or potato? Yes, a shredder! Every time you see the shredder in your kitchen, I want you to see yourself. You are a shredder. You shred those problems standing in your way. You shred those family curses and demolish them. You pulverize the things that have been plaguing you your whole life until they are no more!

Not only a shredder, girl you’re plugged into the power of God … you’re a full blown food processor! You will pulverize the heck out of this!

And from there, you only keep what you want. Keep what is good. Keep what is useful. Keep the lessons. Keep the growth. Keep the confidence. Keep the strength. Let the breath of God blow on the guilt, the shame, the regret, the pain, the hurt, the trauma, the memories and carry them away, gone forever.

And just like that, the mountain is threshed and pulverized and you’ve cleared the way for yourself and others! And that’s what God wanted you to know!
