God formed you with a purpose in mind. He designed you with a specific calling to fulfill in your lifetime. Have you dismissed yourself from his purposes? Have you allowed yourself to believe you’re far too ordinary to do anything outstanding, too broken to be a blessing, too messed up to carry a message, or too flawed to be fabulous?

Ahhhhh girl, let me tell you, when God put a calling on your life, He already factored in your stupidity. I’m not calling you stupid, but sister, you can do some world-class stupid stuff. Am I right? Yeah, me too.

When I open my mouth some really stupid stuff can sometimes come flying out. You don’t even have to give me the stank eye, I’m looking at my own self asking why in the world I say some of the things I say. And yet, God chose me to be the one to get to speak to you each morning for some pep, some joy, and some Jesus?!!! Yip, he already factored in my flaws when he called me to my purpose.

Stop dismissing yourself from the very things you were created to do. God knows your quirks and your flaws perfectly well and he’s not batting an eye! He’s not second guessing choosing you. He’s not questioning if you can really fulfill your destiny. He knew you were screwed up when he chose you! He knew your struggles when he said you’re the girl he wants for this job. When he selected you for this family and said you would be the mama, oh he knew, and he still said you’re exactly who he wants.

Yesterday I met Kate, Sarah and Emilia on the beach. Three young women searching for what they’re going to do with their lives. Kate said to me, “Pamela, sometimes I wake up knowing I’m great and I feel like I can do great things, and other days I feel like a total loser.” (I paraphrase … what she really said was ‘some days I wake up thinking I’m a bada** B’, but you get the point, right? Some days she felt the total opposite.)

Let me tell you, it’s completely normal to feel this way! It’s normal to have good days and bad days. It’s normal to feel confident one day and defeated on the next. But don’t dwell in those feelings. Don’t derive your value and worth from the way you feel when you wake up. It’s not about how you feel, it’s about what you do despite those feelings.

The enemy plays in our emotions and makes us feel unworthy of a calling to do great things with our lives. But remember Jesus said in John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”

There was no qualifying factor for doing great things, other than believing in Jesus. You don’t have to come from a good family. You don’t have to have a high IQ. You don’t have to have a specific degree, wear a specific size, look a certain way, or fit in with the right crowd. None of that matters. The only thing that matters here is believing in Jesus. If you believe in him, you will be empowered and equipped to do great things.

Now, speaking from experience, you will probably still do some stupid things on occasion, but great news … that still doesn’t disqualify you. God already factored all that in when he called you to greatness!

If you were going to a job interview, would you rather have a prestigious degree to represent you, or Jesus? One is better than the other, and I’m telling you the better one you have immediate access to today!

If you were facing a battle, would you rather have unlimited funds and the best lawyer, or Jesus? One looks impressive, the other guarantees ultimate victory.

You have Jesus. You have Jesus fighting for you. You have Jesus going before you. You have Jesus covering you. You have Jesus and there is absolutely no reason for you to fear!

Where does your confidence come from? If it comes from your own history of success, it’s going to be a hard fall when you fail. If it comes from your appearance, oh girl it’s going to be expensive when you grow older. I currently live in the Florida Keys and I’m learning my naturally God given booty is highly frowned upon on the beaches. There’s a thing around here in abundance called the Brazilian Butt Lift. Wowzers. It ain’t even natural! They strut around in bikinis with a whole lot of confidence, but how long will that last? All that is perky will sag, all that is vibrant will grow dull, all that is strong will eventually become weak, and all that is young will eventually grow old. Does your confidence come from all you have? Well you’re not taking a bit of that with you sister, and one day it will all become trash and rubble replaced by the next best thing.

Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ.”

You can show up today confident in exactly who you are because God is in the process of carrying out the good work he began in you. And remember, when he began that work, he already factored in your tendency to do stupid things. He factored in your stubbornness and wavering willpower. He factored in your pull towards the wrong people and choices for bad paths. He factored in your desire to give up and quit when things get hard. He factored in your temper and your habits. He knew it all when he started his good work in you.

And even with all of this, he says SHE’S THE GIRL I WANT TO DO A GOOD WORK IN. SHE’S THE ONE WHO WILL DO EVEN GREATER THINGS IN HER LIFETIME.

It’s you sister. You get to be the one walking into the room with Jesus. You get to be the one showing up for real life with Jesus. You get to be the one exuding confidence because He is for you, not against you. He has gone before you and dwells within you. He is making a way where there has been no way. He is aligning opportunities for you to step into. He is making divine connections. All for you to do even greater things.

No girl, you’re not dismissed because of your tendency to do stupid stuff … you’re destined because of your connection with Jesus.
