Easter is undeniably my favorite Holiday. If pastel colors, daffodils, fluffy bunnies and enough boiled eggs to give you gas until May don’t “float your basket”, here’s a new tradition for you.
My 3 kids count down to Easter morning as if Santa were coming 4 months late. It’s not the new flip flops, swim suits, chocolate bunny or Peeps they’re so excited about . . . Nope, it’s the Crim Family Coupons that keep them awake on Easter Eve.
Within our colorful plastic eggs so carefully hidden in the back yard are the paper coupons that make my children squeal with delight. The mighty egg hunters are searching for the treasured coupons which entitle the bearer to a game of Yahtzee, ice cream, movie rental, pancakes for dinner, or water balloon fight.
Each year the coveted Crim Family Coupon is “DADDY DOES YOUR HOMEWORK”. This year we’re adding 2 new coupons to the mix for a fun twist:
- GET OUT OF JAIL FREE (Yip, the lucky kid with this egg holds the key to getting out of trouble one time this year.) It’s sure to be a hit!
- CLEAN THE TOILET (Oh yes, this blessed child of ours GETS to clean the toilet on the day of Mama’s choosing!) Can’t wait to see who the surprised egg hunter is!
So, if you’re short on Easter cash this year or you don’t want to stand in the hour long check-out lines in Wal-Mart to buy your last minute egg-stuffers (trust me, the Easter isles are bare anyway), start making your own family coupons and create a new tradition your entire family will love! Fair warning, these coupons become more valuable than cash with all the trading, bribing and occasional threats. Last year my son found the “paint your toenails” egg and we made him do it! Priceless!
